We recently returned from a fabulous trip to Walt Disney World. We chose a moderate hotel, Pop Century. Here is some info about the hotel.
The Rooms
Pop Century is a large hotel so there are quite a lot of different buildings. We stayed in Building 8. It was one of the farthest from the lobby and even then, it wasn't that far. The rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. All the rooms were refurbished recently so they are quite modern. Most rooms are built with double beds with one as a Murphy bed in case you don't need it. The rooms have a small fridge (similar to a wine fridge) and a single cup coffee maker. The beds are new to the refurbish so they are super comfy.
There is a great cafeteria that offers a wide range of food. Salad bar, pizzas, soups (I loved the chicken noodle!), sandwiches and grab and go snacks. We opted to purchase the refillable cup. For $18.99 you can refill the cup as many times as you'd like for the duration of your stay. We filled ours each morning with coffee, a few times in the afternoon for iced tea or soda and each night with hot cocoa. It TOTALLY paid for itself and it was a fun souvenir as well.
The Amenities and Recreation
This is a moderate resort so the amenities are limited but still Disney level. There are 3 great pools on site. The main pool plays a Disney movie under the stars each night which is a great addition to your night if you are back early from the parks. There is also a play ground, self-service laundry and a small arcade. There is also a good size shop which is great to pick up souvenirs so you don't have to lug them home from the park.
The Transportation to and From the Hotel
The easy transportation was one of our favorite things about the hotel. We chose to take advantage of the Disney Magical Express. When we reserved the hotel we put in our flight info. A few weeks before our trip we received tags for our luggage. We put the tags on the luggage and checked the bags at the airport. When we got off the plane we went straight to the Magical Express area. We scanned our magic bands and got on the coach bus. It was so easy! The coaches are super comfy. The route we were on was great and although they drop off at multiple stops we were the second hotel to get dropped off. It took a couple hours for our bags to arrive but they came straight to the room. The day before we checked out an envelope was left on our door with our departure time. We met the coach near the lobby and loaded our luggage. Our hotel was the last pickup so it was a little crowded but we got to go straight to the airport. If you can, I would totally recommend taking advantage of Mickey's Magical Express. It is one of many included amenities worth taking advantage of.
The Transportation to and From the Parks
The shuttle to and from the parks is one of the hotels greatest services. Unlike some other Disney hotels, this hotel does not share its shuttle service which means no additional stops. The waiting area is right by the lobby (conveniently located near the cafeteria so you can grab a drink or snack) and has a bit of shade which is helpful on hot days. Each park has its own line and you can read the wait times on the screen near by or on the app. The hotel is in a good location in relation to the parks so the farthest you are is about a 15 minute shuttle ride. The lines can be long at busy times during the day but they send shuttles regularly so it never takes that long.
